I found my Blog!

I love how it is impossible to lose something on the Internet. I am so bothered about the fact that over a year ago I had evidently decided to "update this bad boy more often"...and then didn't touch it for over a year. Good thing I only have 4 followers.
BUT--I'm going to try again. And this time, I believe that the focus of my blog will change a bit. Previously I had desired to update friends and family on the status of our lives with cute stories and pictures of my family, but I miserably failed that mission...and quite frankly I don't really care. I am finally over giving myself a hard time for not keeping up on scrapbooks and photo albums--though I am completely jealous of those who CAN accomplish such tasks--I am just not one of them.
SO, what shall this blog become? Well--perhaps it will be a place that I can get some of the many thoughts that travel through mind out on paper (paper?) Maybe it will help me organize my own thoughts; maybe it will help others make sense of theirs. What will be in it for you as a reader? Well, I don't really know, but I can tell you that God has granted me the ability to be incredibly transparent about my life and to not necessarily care about how I may come across to others. As Popeye would say, I am what I am. This idea of writing in a somewhat public manner is one that I have procrastinated on long enough. Now, I'm just going to do it! I think. Guess we'll see if the content is worth continuing it or not. OH--and if I do actually find time to publish new posts, (in between life with 2 children and full time classes) you can rest assured that someone is probably being neglected.

Oh yeah, Baby Chickens!

Addi and Sam got to play with some baby chickens last Sunday. Addi was a natural, as she is with any kind of bug, worm, or ant. Sam however, does not have the same caring charactersitcs as his sister. Once he stopped to observe a worm on the sidewalk. He examined it closely, poked it, and then said, "Hm..." and quickly stood up and stomped it with his cute yellow rainboot. It was as if to say, "Hm, Life, I will snuff it out" (as Jeremy so perfectly noted).
Well, back to the chicken story. Addi was sweetly picking up the chicks and allowing them to snuggle on her legs, as Sam stayed at a safe distance away from the little yellow devils. One of them got brave and waddled over to stand on his shoe. As soon as Sam realized it he came running over to me and held out his tainted shoe, crying for me to take it off. I of course told him "No we aren't taking off our shoes," and then a moment later took them off. As soon as I did, he picked up the shoe that the chick had stood on and chucked at the baby chick! How mean spirited and halarious! It must be that he is turning 2 on Saturday and is feeling all sorts of male shinanigans rising up with in him.

No Diapers and Baby Chickens

Well I decided that I am going to update this bad boy a lot more often. Because I am over thinking that I am going to one day write all these things down about our life and our kids and have them in a neat and tidy book on the shelf. That will never happen. So I am going to make an effort to record these things here, for anyone who is interested in hearing anything from funny kid stories to what is happening in the mind of Me.
As of late, I have been forgetting to bring diapers with me for Sam. I fully know he is not potty trained, however I have forgot diapers on many important occasions...such as, on the airplane on our trip hom from Alaska. One diaper (the one he was wearing) for 12 hours or traveling? hmmmmm............... Fortunatly we had no major mess. He actually went in the potty for the 4 hours he wasn't wearing a diaper, and then I finally scored a princess pullup to last until we got home. No such luck at the zoo however.
We went to the Indianapolis Zoo with Addi's preschool for a year end trip, and soon after arriving there, one by one I began to think of things I did not bring: camera, lunches, diapers. Fantastic. Oh yeah, and jacket for me, since it was dumping rain. (Luckily our disorganization came though for once, and I was able to score a fleece of Jeremy's buried in the back of the car.)
As we went along in the rain, Sams diaper began to sag more and more as I wondered how long I could actually leave it on him. He tried to potty once, to no avail, and somehow when I pulled his diaper back on him I didn't pull it up high enough in the front, so his little wee wee was actually sticking out of the top of his diaper. I only found that out after he peed all over me and himself. As we ate our lunches (I scored us a hot dog from the zoo cafe) in our car with the rain pouring down outside, Sam announced several times, "Mama, doo." Which can mean anything from please or thankyou, to shoe or juice, or poop and pee. But this time he was telling me he had to poop. So, I made him try to poop in a plastic bag. Ha! Thank goodness he couldn't do it. I don't know what I would have done with a stinky bag of poo in the pouring down rain. How would I explain it to the other Mommies? I'd have to say at that moment I was quit glad that I am not a stay at home mom in Carmel. I think I might be kicked out. Well anyway, I got up the nerve to ask another Mom for a diaper, and fortunatly the rest of the zoo trip got rained out, and we went home early, and Sam pooped happily in his diaper on the way home. The End, for now

Here is Alera and Lilly drinking smoothies during Antiqua's performance at Pandemonium, our new deck and fence...Hooray for the fence! and some birthday pictures and Addi in her new sunflower outfit from Nana. The kids have already gotten to do some swimming in their little pool on the deck...and have been missing it since we have had 4 days or rain!!!

Here is our lovely new kitchen!!!! Jeremy picked the green, and I'd have to say it was a great pick! It is such a happy place. I have even added a small couch in the kitchen, which we all really love. The first picture is of some of the bluegrass musicians at their gig during our visit to Alaska. And Sam wearing a lion's mane just for fun, and Addi and Lilly having with their birthday presents from each other.

Addi's big girl move

So here is Addi...she came down one morning wearing this outfit from Autnie Kara. She never wanted to wear this sweater before because it was "ugly" according to her. She walked in the kitchen and said, "Mommy, I am a big girl because I am wearing this outfit, and I am a big girl now because I am doing this"........(she showed me the hair flip the video shows). I asked her where she learned that, and she said, "Anna".

just posted some more new old pictures. Sam is so dang cute these days i just can't stand it:) I caught him sleeping with his hand down his diaper and thought it was just so funny. He also snuck ito the bath with Addi right after I got him all dressed, and in the last picture he is saying "cheese". whenever i take his picture he acts like he is holding a camara to his face and repeats, "cheese!". Addi is holding a book from her Nana. She loves them by the way, and is soooo into stories. I can hardly read one sentece without her asking me questions about the story. She is understand a lot right now too. We had a big Jesus/God/death talk yesterday and she had so many questions. I am so sensitive to how she hears about these things, becuase it seems like the things that are put into our heads at a young age stick with us our whole life. A few weeks ago during dinner, addi asked me to tell her the story of when i walked away from God. Which was funny, becuase i don't think i have ever told her a story about that. But before i could say anything, she said, "silly mommy, you can't walk away from God. if you try to, he will just say (to the tune of na na na na boo boo) 'ha ha ha ha ha, you can't get away, i'm in your heart, ha ha ha ha ha'. i guess she was right, i love hearing how she understand things these days.
sam is still batteling illness. although his wheezing is under control, he seems to have gotten everything else. he had a fever for 3 days (that is gone now), and then a little vomiting, and his head is still totally congested. all he wants me to do is wrap him up in his blankies. he seems to be improving now, i think we are through the worst. i would feel better if got a better appetite, becuase his toddler pickiness seems to be in full swing now.
well, we got our first snow on december 1st. addi immediatly wanted to go outside and eat it, which is all she ever did with the snow in alaska. hopefully it will stick around.
until next time.....
